Snow may be difficult to find but not fun and adventurous batting track Winter Trails Council of Great Lakes.
And some events are free and low-cost throughout January makes it easy to stick to their new year’s resolutions while enjoying a Michigan winter.
First up is the trace of a winter’s day, January 7-8, which features free trail pass and lessons for those new to the sport cross country skiing, snowshoeing or hiking with Norse SkiWalking pole.
For the month of January is learn, cross country, and features the instruction, equipment rental and a trail pass for $ 20. Boyne Highlands Resort including the Harbor Springs, Boyne mountain in Boyne Falls, Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, Garland Lodge in Gaylord, Timber Ridge in Traverse City and Treetops in Gaylord. Ski areas include Corsair Ski Trails, cross country Ski headquarters and Hanson Hills.
Other events are offered through Winter Trails Council of Great Lakes include: the Silver lining of the week, free of charge for those 55 and older, January 9-13; Cote Dame Marie Ski Loppet, Jan 20-21; White Pine RAID, 4 February; Women’s Winter Tour, February 4-5; Cherry capital winter WOW fest, 18 February; and winter Kingdom Adventure Weekend, Feb. 24 and 26.
