HONOLULU
Honolulu has been based in occupying tents on the banks of Thomas Square Park since 5 November. “We had been told that the pavement and we get on it,” said Megan Brooker, leader of the group.
But on Thursday, Mayor Peter Carlisle city surveys completed to announce truly set the boundaries of the Park. The camp is located within the boundaries, the city said.
Jim Fulton, Executive Assistant to the Mayor, said Friday the survey is conducted as it was not clear if the area is part of the Park, or part of the sidewalk.
Police arrived around 9 and warn them about the boundaries and that they should go when the Park closed, Brooker said. “We don’t understand why we were not given a warning,” he said. “We don’t know what led this once a month and a half.”
